Restoration of the Brussels Conservatory has begun
Restoration and extension work has begun on the Brussels Conservatory on Rue de la Régence. This work will restore a piece of Belgian architectural heritage and provide our conservatories with modern infrastructure worthy of these internationally renowned schools.
The historic buildings designed by architect Cluysenaar, including the concert hall and classrooms, and the townhouses on Rue de la Toison will be carefully restored. The library building, which was added in later years, will be demolished to make way for a new building with high-performance classrooms, a rehearsal room and a chamber music hall.
This part of the work is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2029. The following work will be commissioned at a later stage, once additional funding has been made available. This mainly concerns the restoration of the Director's Residence and the Secretariat Residence on Kleine Zavel, the completion of the houses on Wolstraat and the landscaping of the courtyard gardens.
